A stoneware table lamp, hand-painted in a black check, under a coolie-style shade that throws a soft, wide light.
The pattern comes from poleng, a traditional Balinese textile motif. In Balinese culture poleng represents the balance of opposing forces (light and dark, good and bad, life and death) and the harmony between them. Repeated around the lamp, the check becomes a way of thinking about how contrast holds things together.
Made to order, so yours will vary a little from the one pictured.
Materials + Care
Every piece is made entirely by hand in stoneware clay, so expect slight variations in texture, finish, colour and size. No two pieces are exactly alike.
Handle with care. Gentle hand wash advised.
Lamps are wired by a certified electrician to Australian safety standards, tested and tagged, and made for indoor use only.

Shipping + Returns
Shipping. Online orders ship within Australia. Shipping costs $20 to $100, depending on the size of the piece, and is shown at checkout. Standing lamps are too large to post: collect yours from the studio in Carnegie, Melbourne, or ask about delivery. Buying from overseas? Please get in touch for a quote before you order.
Returns. Changed your mind about a ready-to-ship piece? You can return it within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging, with return postage at your cost. Made-to-order pieces, pre-orders and commissions are made for you, so they can’t be returned for change of mind. If a piece arrives damaged, email us within 48 hours with photos.
